Partners
Invaluable support from our partners
On behalf of the Board of Management, we wish to acknowledge the vital role of our partners and in particular, the following organisations that have provided invaluable support over many years:
VOLUNTEER SERVICE ABROAD (VSA)
This highly respected New Zealand volunteering program, has enriched successive team members at the XGRR and participating volunteers by creating opportunities to share knowledge and life experiences over many years through cross cultural exchanges. Living and working alongside our Timorese team, this program has achieved so much by investing in the vital connections of friendship, support and mutual personal and professional growth.
Take a glimpse of the amazing outcomes in Hugo’s story at the XGRR.
ROTARY AUSTRALIA WORLD COMMUNITY SERVICE. (RAWCS)
Rotary remains one of the largest and most credible not for profit organisations committed to delivering humanitarian aid and support for educational programs in the world. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, the XGRR has received vital funding to assist in staff development and the development of library services to remote communities throughout Timor-Leste. Additionally, RAWCS offers donors of the XGRR the advantages of tax deductibility in Australia along with project accounting, internal audits and secure international currency transfers.
Australian Volunteers International
The Australian Volunteers Program matches skilled Australians with partner organisations, to help those organisations achieve their own development goals. AVI provided Australian volunteers to assist with the establishment of the systems and programs of the Xanana Gusmão Reading Room starting in 2000.
BTK TIMOR-LESTE
This local construction company is renowned for some of the largest infrastructure projects in Timor-Leste from roads and bridges to government offices and schools. The XGRR has been a beneficiary of the companies extensive philanthropic projects with the generous building of our new library and office facilities and a major refurbishment of the original Portuguese architecture of the Museum.”
