Suai Loro and Kamenasa – Suai Administrative Post, Covalima Municipality

The Xanana Gusmão Reading Room team recently held socialization sessions in Suai Loro and Kamenasa to introduce the upcoming Aiknanoik Writing Competition in Tetun Terik. This initiative celebrates local language and storytelling, inviting youth and community members to write original Aiknanoik (short poetic expressions) in Tetun Terik.
During the sessions, participants learned about the competition’s goals, how to enter, and the importance of preserving Tetun Terik through creative writing. The team encouraged everyone to share their voices, stories, and cultural wisdom through this unique literary form.
This competition is part of the Reading Room’s ongoing commitment to promoting multilingual literacy, cultural pride and creativity across Timor-Leste.
