On 22 November 2017, A Radio New Zealand journalist, Sally Round visited the Reading Room in order to have discussions with young people in Timor Leste. Her objective was to gain an understanding of the perceptions of young people regarding their nation’s development challenges and their own personal aspirations. Many spoke of the lack of employment prospects in Timor Leste and talked about their experiences of finishing school and not being able to find work. A good number of participants talked about how important it was to them to be able to use the facilities of the Reading Room to access information and resources.
